The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) has apprehended two men from Luhhuhhuma in the Lubombo region for allegedly attempting to smuggle livestock across the border into South Africa.

According to reports, the suspects were intercepted while trying to move 25 goats out of the country unlawfully. The goats were seized, and the suspects are expected to face charges related to cross-border smuggling.

In a separate operation, UEDF officers arrested another suspect in the Mafutseni area after he was found in possession of 237 kilograms of dagga. The confiscated drugs have an estimated street value of E236,500.

The UEDF continues to intensify patrols and operations aimed at curbing cross-border crimes, including stock theft and drug trafficking, to safeguard the country’s economic and social stability.
