Stakeholders have called for Breast Cancer Awareness Month to broaden its focus to include awareness of all forms of cancer affecting communities.

The call was made during the launch of the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, held at the Phocweni Royal Guard.

Launching the month, Minister for Health Mduduzi Matsebula urged the public to prioritize cancer screening, prevention and early detection.

This year’s campaign is being held under the theme, “Mission 365: Screen, Protect, Prevail and Defend!”, which emphasizes the importance of making cancer awareness and screening a year-round commitment.

Stakeholders further highlighted the need for increased public education on the different types of cancer, their risk factors, early warning signs and the importance of seeking medical attention early.

The campaign aims to encourage individuals and communities to take proactive steps towards cancer prevention, screening and treatment.
