The commemoration of International Epilepsy Day 2026 is currently underway at the Hilton Hotel, bringing together high-level leadership and key stakeholders to advance dialogue on epilepsy and neurological health in Eswatini.

The session is being attended by HRH Prince Bandzile, the Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula, and other distinguished patrons, leaders, and professionals from the health, justice, and social sectors. Discussions are centred on addressing stigma associated with epilepsy, improving access to quality healthcare, strengthening legal and social protections, and enhancing neurological care services across the country.

Speakers emphasized the need for a coordinated, multi-sectoral approach to epilepsy care, highlighting that epilepsy is not only a medical condition but also a social and human rights issue. Particular focus was placed on the importance of public awareness, early diagnosis, community education, and policy support to improve the quality of life for people living with epilepsy.

International Epilepsy Day serves as a global platform to raise awareness and promote understanding of epilepsy, while encouraging governments and institutions to prioritise neurological health. The 2026 commemoration in Eswatini underscores the country’s commitment to inclusive healthcare, reduced stigma, and strengthened support systems for individuals affected by epilepsy.
