Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has reaffirmed Eswatini’s strong commitment to the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands. Speaking at the official opening of the 15th Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP15) to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands held in Zimbabwe, the Prime Minister highlighted the country’s strides in environmental protection.

He noted that Eswatini has taken significant policy steps by approving the National Wetlands Policy, along with a comprehensive strategy and action plan aimed at preserving the nation’s vital wetland ecosystems.

“These initiatives are a clear demonstration of our dedication to fulfilling our obligations under the Ramsar Convention,” said the Prime Minister. “We recognize the critical role wetlands play in biodiversity conservation, water purification, and climate resilience.”

The COP15 Meeting brings together representatives from member states, conservation organizations, and environmental experts to strengthen international cooperation on wetland protection.

Prime Minister Dlamini’s address served to showcase Eswatini’s progress and to encourage continued global collaboration in protecting the world’s wetlands.
