The reopening of schools has been officially postponed to 27 January 2026, the Minister of Education, Owen Nxumalo, announced today.
The Minister made the announcement during a press briefing held at the Ministry of Education’s offices, where he addressed members of the media on the revised school calendar. He said the decision was taken after careful consideration to ensure a smooth and effective start to the academic year.
Minister Nxumalo noted that further details regarding the adjusted timetable and any implications for learners, parents and educators would be communicated in due course through official channels.
The Ministry has encouraged all stakeholders to remain patient and to rely on verified information from the Ministry of Education for updates related to the reopening of schools.
