The International Week of Deaf People 2026 has officially been launched in Eswatini under the theme “Declaring Deaf People’s Human Rights.”
The launch, held at the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO) Conference Room, marked the beginning of a series of activities scheduled to take place from 21 to 27 September 2026.
The week seeks to raise awareness about the rights of Deaf people while promoting inclusion, accessibility and equal participation in society.
Deputy Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla delivered the keynote address through the Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, Skhumbuzo Dlamini, who represented her at the launch.
Activities throughout the week are expected to highlight issues affecting the Deaf community and encourage greater recognition and protection of their human rights.
