The Eswatini Television Authority (ETA), in partnership with the Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS), has introduced a new compliance measure aimed at regulating the importation of television sets and decoders into the country.
The initiative, titled “No Permit, No Import,” is set to take effect on July 1. It requires all retailers and importers to obtain a valid import permit from the Eswatini Television Authority prior to bringing television sets and decoders into the Kingdom.
Under the new regulation, importers will be required to present this permit at ports of entry before their goods can be cleared into the country. The move is intended to strengthen regulatory compliance within the broadcasting sector and ensure that all imported devices meet national standards and requirements.
The collaboration between ETA and ERS reflects a broader commitment to improving oversight, enhancing industry standards, and promoting a more structured and compliant importation process within Eswatini’s broadcasting landscape.
